New Year - Renew the Fair Tax push!!!

With the start of the new year, I thought it would be a good time to renew the push for the Fair Tax. The Fair Tax is legilation that will bring about an end to the IRS, the income tax, and every other federal tax and replace it with a National Sales Tax. Most of what I write below I posted in my very first blog, but we cannot lose sight of what has become a major grass roots effort througout the nation.

This is an item that I have been a big supporter for nearly 10 years now. The FairTax is a measure before the US House presented by my Congressman John Linder, HR 25. This is a very important piece of legislation that will get rid of the IRS and remove the income tax by repealing the 16th amendment of the Constitution. It will bring about the largest power shift from the government to the people since the Revolution.

What the FairTax does is instead of taxing your income, there will be a national sales tax of 23% on purchases of new goods and services. You will no longer have to pay Federal income taxes, Social Security, and Medicare from your income. You will be in full control of what taxes you pay and don't pay. 23% is what research shows it would take to fund the Federal Government at its current size.

Now, you may stop and wonder, wow 23% that is a lot. How can I afford 23% on top of what I pay now? First of course, you will have your full pay check. Secondly, there is already a 20-22% embedded tax in the price of products we buy now associated with the cost of manufacturing those products. That tax will no longer be in place as well so that portion of the price will be removed. In the end you will end up paying out of pocket about what you pay now with the imbedded tax.

You may also think, what if companies decide to keep that extra amount for revenue and not drop prices. This is where the Free Market comes in. A few businesses will drop there prices right off the bat, then fairly quickly, competitors will be forced to drop there prices in order to keep business.

There is also a monthly rebate that will be paid to every taxpayer for the taxes on food, clothing, and shelter up the the poverty line. In many cases that rebate could be more than one pays entirely in month, which removes their entire tax liability. To give a example of the rebate by 2006 standards a single taxpayer would get a monthly rebate of $188 and a married couple with 3 kids would receive $571 a month (www.fairtax.org). This rebate goes to every tax payer in the same amount.

There is so much more to this bill, but I would end up re-writting Neal Boortz's and Congressman Linder's book "The FairTax Book." To get more detailed information on this plan please purchase this bood at Amazon.com and go to www.fairtax.org for more information. Another sight to get involved at and discuss the Fair Tax is FairTaxgroups.com.

The FairTax is a very important peace of legislation that frightens the daylights out of politicians who are scared of losing the power they have now. As support grows, and it is growing, they will be forced to pay attention. Let's all get behind this plan. It is not about Republican or Democrat with this plan, it is about giving back power to the American People and giving them absolute econonmic freedom.

Democrats Pursue Politics Over Victory!!!

Following President Bush’s speech on Wednesday to outline the way forward in Iraq and the War on Islamic Fascism, we have been met with nothing but a barrage of criticism and outright garbage from those on the left. It is just amazing to me that so many people in the country, from Washington on down care little about actually winning the war as they do about politics and political. The dems are up in arms at the thought of increasing forces to a point that may actually put us in better position to winning the war faster.

It is all a matter of political convenience and doing whatever is opposite of President Bush. The President wants to increase our troop levels as is supported by many top military aides and cabinet members so naturally the dems say that is a bad idea. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is one leading the charge along with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to say that the increase in troop levels should not occur.

Both Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi are on record saying that they supported an increase in troop levels to help move the pace of the war along and get our troops home. Now that the President has recommended doing that as part of his strategy, they have conveniently switched their statements strictly for political purposes. They do whatever they can to undermine anything that the President tries to accomplish. It is impossible for them to support whatever the President wants to do. These people have no principle and no morale backbone.

Moreover, they have no strategy to move us forward other than defeat by pulling out and leaving the people of Iraq to be overrun by the Islamic Fascist that are just waiting for the American will to be broken to the point that we no longer have the desire to fight. People have to understand, and the President said this in his speech the other day. We are facing an enemy like none we have ever faced. The war is not fought on conventional battle lines and our enemy is not some national army like Nazi Germany or the Japanese empire. They look like normal people and hide like cowards among the innocent. They use civilians as shields and when their shields are killed it is our fault. We are said to be “targeting civilians.” Everything about this war is different. Our enemy is also smart enough to pay attention to our politics and news media and use that to their advantage. They understand the democrats are weaker and liberal media is all too eager to show the bad side of things, so they use that and it has somewhat worked in their favor to this point. Like I said before, Al Qaeda was seen cheering the Democrat victory in November and ever congratulated them on the victory.

As I have mentioned before, politics and war are two words that do not mix well. When you let politics overrun the resolve for victory, it becomes very difficult to win. Our forces have to been given the abilities to do whatever it takes to secure full victory in this war. Losing in Iraq would be disastrous as it would embolden our enemy including the likes of Iran with their nuclear ambitions. The statements by those on the left do nothing but hurt the morale of our armed forces. I hope they know however, that despite what they may here from democrats, this country does support them. They are doing once hell of a job. God willing, with this new strategy coming into place they will hopefully finally have the tools and manpower they need to defeat this enemy.
