This Nation Needs a Wake Up Call

I have been fairly silent as of late with my blogs. A lot of it is due to frustration and just not sure what the hell else to say. This is going to be a nice long awaited vent folks, so sit back and enjoy. I will be discussing everything from gas prices and energy independence, the election process, the economy, and the war. I’ve got so much built of frustration that it is time to let loose.

Gas prices and energy dependence and economy

As we all have seen in the past couple of months are gas prices have not just risen, they have sky rocketed. The entire country is pushing near $4.00 per gallon for unleaded gasoline. In addition, we have had to deal with other rising costs on certain goods as companies are having to pay more for transporting goods around the country. I’ve heard so much blame put on the President and “Big Oil.” The only ones that can share the blame for this looming problem that has now blown up in our faces is the environmentalist whack jobs and the liberal left that has continued to cater them.

They have repeatedly stood in the way of drilling and oil exploration. They have blocked us from drilling in ANWR in an area that was designated for that specific purpose. An area that is looks like a frozen over empty-Mart parking lot.  There’s nothing there. Secondly we have technology in place that enables to drill with out leaving a massive impact on the landscape. We also have issues with Florida. There is said to be a potentially great supply of oil and natural gas off the coast of Florida, but because of “tourism” Florida is worried about having drilling visible over the horizon from the coastline. Lastly is the oil shale out west. There is said to be so a large quantity of oil shale in the western US that is actually greater than the oil supply in the Middle East. Why the hell do we not go after it?

We have ready supplies of oil in this country that we just need to get to. We certainly need to find better fuel alternatives for the future, but until that is done, we need to go after the supply we have. OPEC and the towel heads of the Middle East have us by the balls right now because we are so damn dependant on their oil. We go after our own oil, they lose our money, they lose our money, they are forced to drop their prices and boost production to compete.

We also need to build our refining capacity and build more nuclear power plants in this country. There is so much that we can do and really fast to help with the rising cost, we just have to push these people out of our way and do. It would be nice if President Bush used Executive authority to get them out of the way. Not sure if that is within his abilities, but it would be nice. All of this focus on false climate change and ethanol production is a joke. Something has to be done and quickly. We need government to get out of the way so we can remedy this problem. We need leadership that will just say screw you and not pander to these anti-capitalist environmentalists.

Many have said with our rising oil prices and sub-prime mortgage issues that we have neared or entered a recession. I don’t know whose dictionary they have but we have not entered into at least two consecutive quarters of economic decline. In fact our economy is still and continues to grow. Growth has slowed down some but we have not had negative growth at all. The Sub-prime issue was government made. Their may have been an increase in foreclosures, but that is due to peoples own stupidity and buying more house they could afford or no re-financing their ARMs before their rates adjusted and raised their payments to what they could not afford. I’m sorry that some lost their homes. You hate to see that, but these people should have been more educated and stuck with what they could afford. Those that can afford to buy homes are still doing just that. We are not nor are we near a recession. Anyone that says we are is either pushing an agenda or is just plain stupid.

Election and war

This election process is been really interesting. We have seen the dems, Shrillary and Obama going at for a while now with neither sealing up the nomination. It looks like Obama is going to take though. We all know how scary it would be for either one to get in the white house, especially with the possibility of the Dems gaining Congressional seats as the GOP in Congress has lost complete touch with their base overall. I pushed my support behind John McCain. My thought is that Conservatives need to unite to defeat the threat of a Socialist gaining the White House.

The one reason that I continue to support John McCain at this point is because of the war. We are at war and he is the only candidate understands the threat we face with this enemy of Islamic Fascism. An enemy that has no country or borders. I do hope that he will keep his promise on taxes and make the Bush cuts permanent despite voting against it. I would also hope that maybe we can get him to look at the Fair Tax but who knows.

I would through my support to Bob Bar, who is now running for the libertarian nomination. I have many libertarian beliefs but the one reason I cannot still is because the many libertarians, the Paulistas, and Bob Bar have an isolationist attitude and will not stand and fight the threat our enemy faces. Many of them have said that they supported going into Afghanistan because of 9/11 and that was where Al Qaeda reside, but they do not support our Iraq efforts. They don’t understand that the enemy we face is not just Al Qaeda and the Taliban, but rather and ideology that is held by many rouge dictators, Saddam was one of those. The Iranian and Syrian dictatorships are other areas that need to be dealt with. This is an ideology (Radical Islamic Fascism) that resonates through many in this region. It is a belief of hate and radical religious beliefs that glorifies the death of innocents. This enemy has no borders and we must continue to pursue them otherwise, and they have stated this, we will find them at our door again as we did nearly 7 years ago. Don’t forget this enemy declared war on us long before 9/11. That was just our wake-up call to reality.

Speaking of the war, we had this little fiasco yesterday where President Bush was speaking in Israel and mentioned the dangers of negotiating with terrorists or radicals. He said the following:

“Some seem to believe we should negotiate with terrorists and radicals, as if some ingenious argument will persuade them they have been wrong all along. We have heard this foolish delusion before. As Nazi tanks crossed into Poland in 1939, an American senator declared: “Lord, if only I could have talked to Hitler, all of this might have been avoided.” We have an obligation to call this what it is – the false comfort of appeasement, which has been repeatedly discredited by history.”

As we all saw for some reason, Barrack Obama got his thong in a bunch and said that this was direct political attack against him. President Bush never mentioned any names. He was speaking to an audience who knows first hand the results of terrorist negotiations and he was exactly right. We do know that Obama expressed a desire to negotiate with dictators such as those in Iran and North Korea. Negotiating means pandering and appeasing. That’s what Obama wants to do. He has been fully exposed on that again with his melt down.

Conservatives

As I mentioned I still, though with some reluctance keep my support with John McCain, primarily because of the war. However, the republican leadership and those in Washington have lost complete touch with their base in this country. House Minority Leader John A. Boehner and other house republicans are trying to come up with an agenda that they can present to Americans to gain back support. It almost seems too little, too late, but we’ll see what they come up with.

Republicans already lost touch with their base after they completely scrapped the Contract with America. The Contract energized the republican base as it gave us something we could finally believe in and with that cam the voter revolution of 1994. Dems still can figure out what happened that year. Since then saw former Speaker Newt Gingrich, the author of the contract, demonized by the left and the media and eventually driven out of Congress. Once that happened, the GOP simply dumped the contract and became too used to having power. It took twelve years, but voters sent them a message in 2006 when they lost the majority again. I had hoped by this year we would have seen a great resurgence in the conservative movement, but all I see are a bunch of pansy republicans who continue to pander to the left and do not have the guts to stand up and push the conservative agenda and Contract with America again.

Hell I sure would like to get into Congress and create a firestorm. I would sure like to get under the skin of some liberal socialists up there. Someone needs to stand up and fight these people and gain back control before we see the socialist agenda pushed forward even more. I fear a socialist president and a socialist congress in control in Washington. That is a very frightening Concept. Maybe it’s time to retreat to Galt’s Gulch. We’ll see what happens in the coming months, but right now republicans do not leave much to hope for. If Libertarians would open their eyes and stand up to the threats against our country then that is where I would be.
